Kitesurfing cruise to the British Virgin Islands

bvi-gallery1

Discover the most beautiful kitesurfing sites of the British Virdin Islands: the beautiful lagoon of Virgin Gorda, the site worth your widlest Robinson Crusoe dreams of  Jost Van Dyke and the famous Anegada.

Located between Puerto Rico and St Martin on the north East of the Caribbean, the BVI's are considered as a true gem for kitesurfing: among the most protected and untouched islands of the Caribbean, they mix constant trade winds (which brought them their reputation of one of the top sailing destination in the world), warm, pristine and turquoise waters (forget the neoprene), which turns them into a simply magical playground.

Tortola

The BVI's are made of 4 main islands, all surrounded by multiple smaller ones. Tortola is the biggest one, it's where the international airport is located as well as the capital Road Town. It's the island where the cruises start from for practical reasons, but we usually cast away rather fast as the other islands offer much nicer kitesurfing sites.

bvismal1Virgin Gorda

Virgin Gorda is very différent in its topography and population from its bigger sister: calmer, friendlier, Virgin Gorda offers a fanatastic lagoon, ideal for kiteboarding, and the numerous surrounding islands reveal magical sites.
When the swell turns up, the outter reef becomes a real fun playground (watch out for coral though) and nothing compares to a clear wave through which you can watch fish and turtoises.

Jost Van Dyke

Jost Van Dyke, famous for its diving sites, only offers one real good spot, but it is way worth the sailing there when conditions are met.

bvismal3Anegada

Anegada is the summun of the BVI's and has become a reference along kitesurfing cruises those past years: located a few sailing hours away from the other islands, it offers an exceptional characteristic (almost unique in the Caribbean) which is to be exempted of relief.
Anegada is like a big sand bar in the middle of the ocean and this features, on top of the delight it is for the eyes, allows it to benefit from an incredible wind quality and to work with any wind direction.

This island alone justifies a kitesurfing cruise to the BVI's: it's a dream spot, definitely one of the ones you want to say you've kited at once in your life. Riding there is a bit like a kitesurfing fantasy come true. Never you've ridden on something this clear, smooth and silky before.

And if you're from the lucky ones who get the northerly swell during your stay, we can garantte this will be one of the most insane and unforgettable wave sessions of your life...

About your kitesurfing cruise in the British Virgin Islands

Your kitesurfing odyssey will be supervised by professionels, who will give you access to unique sites, look after your safety, allow you to do great downwinders but also introduce you to sailing -most of our crew are qualified instructors- and introduce you to the under water marine life, teach you how to fish and show you a lifestyle close to Nature and in harmony with the elements.

It's important to understand that the way the BVI's relief is exposed to the wind completely limites their kitesurfing potential if ashore: lots of wind turbulence, few beaches to launch from... It is those complicated aspects which bring all their menaing to kitesurfing cruises, as the boat will allow you to access sites that can't be reached from land, adapt the pot to the wind direction and the riders level, do great downwinders and basically, get to kitesurf regradless of the conditions.

bvismal2Our crew experience combines local knowledge of the islands, reefs, beaches, currents, and this experience is what makes the trip so outstanding, with good spot selection and efficient condition observation.
Beginners will be put in optimal conditions to build their skills, thanks to safe shallow water lagoons, while more experienced riderswill have a ball on the reefs: Virgin Gorda and Anegada turn out to provide incredible wave ridings when the conditions are met.

You may also get a chance to ride on the famous Necker's Island (the one of Sir lRichard Branson, also known for having appeared in the movie « Pirates of the Caribbean »), around Saba Rock, and on other secret spots we won't reveal here! ;)

Finally, because this is about kitesurfing, but not solely, you will also get a chance to discover mythic places on land, such as the Baths (a wonder some solely come to the BVI's to see: it's a true magical place, and if you have no idea what we're talking about, the surprise and the delight will be even greater), as well as local pubs known in the whole Caribbean for their unforgettable parties (Foxy's and the  Bomba Shack)....
