Kitesurfing cruise in Guadeloupe

gwada3

Guadeloupe is simply stunning.
It's a wind and water heaven, with some of the best surfing spots in the Caribbean and enough kitesurfing spots variety to renew your mojo.

The island offers breath taking lagoons with colours so bright they're blinding and nature lovers will adore this island: you will be mesmerized by the lucious vegetation and the incredible panoramas that you'll see everywhere.
The island is rather big and offers two very distinct sides: Grande Terre and Basse Terre.

The latter offers very limited amount of spots, due to its relief, yet it is our no wind day playground, thanks to its gorgeous mountain and tropical forest, which offer plenty of waterfalls and trekking trails to explore.

gwadacopyrightGuadeloupe itineraries include the best spots of Grande Terre, La Désirade, Les Saintes and Marie Galante, and kitesurfing cruises usually start from the main island (Gosier or St François).
Guadeloupe can also be included in itineraries starting or going to Antigua or Martinique.

The island has a huge riding potential, with over 10 different kitesurfing spots to explore, great downwinders along the south coast and there are tonnes of thrilling "no wind days" activities -surfing being its number one (parasailing number two).

The kitesurfing spots variety is quite mind blowing, it goes from glassy turquoise lagoons to hardcore wave riding and excellent wind average from December to July.

We can't speak of Guadeloupe without mentioning the surf quality there: this island gave us some of our most memorable surf sessions. You can find there PERFECT swell, with waves for all riding levels, and one definitely should consider a kitesurfing cruise there as a way to combine kiting and surfing.

Rare enough to be mentioned as well, his is one of the few places where we actually found surfing locals super friendly: show respect and consideration on the water and you will be surprised how nice and friendly everybody is at the line up.

gwada2copyrightUnique as well is the fact that the island is one of the few is the whole Caribbean to offer parasailing: definitely something one should consider if the wind doesn't show. The parasailing base there is held by kiters, and you will probably get to meet them on the water if you ride in the stunning lagoon of St François.

Aside from its great water sports potential, Guadeloupe is a true Caribbean destination, mixing French roots with creole language and cuisine, and we can only recommend you to hop by Basse Terre to discover Guadeloupe roots people and ground:  stunning tropical forest, water falls, unique vegetation, pretty coves, breathtaking cliffs and unexpected landscapes await for you on that side of the island and it would be a huge mistake not to visit Basse Terre during your kitesurfing journey.

All together, a kiteboarding holiday there will allow you to mix great kitesurfing, top class surfing with some nature fix and possibly some big adrenalin rush through parasailing for the daring ones: a great combo for an adventure vacation!
